Episode 159
Season 32 – Production code 18E4
Written by Robert Dunlop
“Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul…”
It started well. As I remember, mydear companion Christine was swimming in the pool when I called her down for dinner. Hot it was too, but by the time she reached me in the kitchen (the dining room had ” mysteriously” vanished) it had rather cooled down. And what we would have done for cool air later in the day.
I don’t think that there has ever been a more harrowing sequence of events in just one hour of my life. And Chris, the good girl, she had to cope with it all too and more, I dare say. But then, I wouldn’t know.
They say opposites attract, and in this case I don’t think the TARDIS could have attracted anything worse. For one who lives in the face of danger, this particular adventure could have seen the end to it all. If only the power hadn’t cut off and we reduced to carrying torches. If only Christine hadn’t wandered off and lost herself in the web of black corridors. If only I knew where she was, if only there was no danger to either of us.
If only that was even half of it.
